On the last episode of Dexter Season 5, Dexter is spending time with Jordan Chase. His life changed dramatically however with the sudden arrival of his step-daughter Astor and her friend Olivia. Meanwhile, Debra was assigned to do some stuffs in the filling room and encountered some information about the barrel girl murders. She also learns about Quinn’s suspicions of her brother. Quinn has his own problems with Stan Liddy, who refuses to drop his private investigation into Dexter.

Just as Dexter discovers a possible ally in the pursuit of Lumen’s former captors, he and Lumen are forced to step down as Homicide uncovers some key evidence linked to one of their prior victims. Debra, who’s been reassigned to the Barrel Girls murders, positively identifies two more suspects in the case.
