Dear John is a romantic story of a war soldier who falls in love to a conservative college student during his break on duty. But John (the soldier played by Tatum) must return back to the army and he and Savannah (the student played by Seyfriend) communicate only by letters. Their relationship is challenge by distance and tragic. They managed to keep their love not until Tim enters the scene. Sad to say Savannah is married already to Tim when John return back to attend the funeral of his father.
